Usui Reiki Symbols

The Usui Reiki Symbols are considered sacred and for many years were kept secret until one was attuned to Level II.

Diane Stein “outed” the symbols in 1995 in her book Essential Reiki. It was controversial because she published drawings of the Usui Reiki symbols which was considered taboo.

I am not inclined to agree that anything should be secret. The fact is until you are attuned to Reiki Level II, the symbols are not much use to you.

I’ve always thought of Reiki Symbols as training wheels. You use them to connect to certain aspects of the Universal Life Force Energy but once you’ve practiced and can actually Be Reiki instead of just channeling Reiki then you really don’t need the symbols.

The 3 Level II Usui Reiki Symbols are: ChoKuRei, Seiheki and Hon-sha-za-sho-nen.

Usui Reiki Symbols - ChoKuReiUsing the ChoKuRei is like asking the energy to power up and place itself in a certain area. It’s also used to clear the energy in rooms as well as to open and close a Reiki session

Usui Reiki Symbols - SeiHeKiThe Seiheki is the mental/emotional symbol and is often used to help people bring to the surface and release any mental or emotional issues that may be creating any physical problems. It addresses the mind/body issues that doctors now realize are the precursors to many diseases.

The Honshazeshonen is the distance healing symbol. It is used to send Reiki healing energy over distances. Generally, it is thought to mean, “No past, no present, no future.” There is no separation between the person sending or receiving Reiki. You are connected and time or distance have no meaning.

Using the symbols in many cases is intuitive. Although some say they are used in specific instances to treat different things, I’ve found over time that if I listen to my hands while they are on or above a person during a session, the symbols to be used will just present themselves.

The Usui Reiki symbols are based on Kanji which is the Japanese writing system. When using them you should either draw or visualize them as they were taught to you in the Reiki Level II attunement.

You will see variations in the symbols themselves between different students as they were taught by different Masters.

There really is no right or wrong way to draw them as the Usui Reiki Symbols given to you will work because you will be drawing or visualizing them and incorporating the intention and connection to the energies each symbol represents.

Once you are attuned to the symbols you will find that your Reiki healing sessions are amped up and the energy just seems to flow more freely through you.

There is one more symbol in the Usui System of Reiki and that is the Daikomyo – the Master Symbol. The Master symbol can be used to replace all three Level II symbols in that it incorporates each of the energies.

I’ve found that using the DaiKoMyo has helped me the most when it comes to abundance prosperity Reiki and creating more abundance in my life.

Archangelic Reiki

Archangelic Reiki was developed by Vincent Amador and does not differ from the original system of Reiki.

It is an add-on that allows you to connect and work directly with the Archangels. This system of Reiki can only be learned after having completed the Master level training in Usui Reiki.

Archangelic Reiki is a technique used by Reiki practitioners whereby they are assisted by the archangels during a Reiki session to help heal any physical, emotional or spiritual ailments that may be interfering with your well-being.

Connecting to the Archangels during a healing session is not a difficult task as they are always within reach and willing partners when you call upon them to help you in your healing practice.

When you call upon an Archangel you can actually feel their presence and will notice that the Reiki energy you channel somehow becomes transformed into something more.

You can ask the Archangels to assist you simply by asking them to come to you or you can light a candle, say a prayer, use incense…whatever feels right to you. Just know that by opening yourself to them allows them to flow their energy with yours when a healing session for yourself or another begins.

The Archangels are thought to be the Angels that are responsible for watching over human beings and according to most people there are seven of them.

Of these seven…Michael, Uriel, Gabriel and Raphael are generally agreed upon but the three remaining Archangels are usually chosen from among these six: Raziel, Anael, Metatron, Sariel, Remiel and Raguel.

Archangelic Reiki Picture of Archangel RaphaelIn Archangelic Reiki, a lot of Reiki Masters will call upon Raphael to help them in their healing practice as Raphael’s name actually means “God heals,” so he is the perfect helper to assist you during all your healing sessions!

Combining Reiki energy and Archangelic Reiki energy is a marriage made in heaven.

The incredible feeling of transcendence that washes over you when the Archangels are surrounding you is something that will transform you forever on every level of your being.

There’s a book, Divine Intervention: A Guide To Reiki Angels And Archangels that details which specific Angels and Archangels to call upon when you need help in real-life situations. The book also shows you how to use prayer, affirmations, meditation and Reiki to bring the Angels to you.

Whichever way you decide to invoke help from the Angelic Realm, make sure you do so with respect and a willingness to open your heart to the transformation that takes place when you make use of Archangelic Reiki.
